our society, firmly rooted in capitalism, has forged a connection between material wealth and the attainment of success. people frequently associate affluence with the possession of luxury and designer items. however, when luxury can be easily replicated or imitated, it forces us to question why luxury is valued in our society and what it means to possess and display affluence. advertisements have been used by luxury brands to create a seductive, expensive, desirable appeal to their products. by imitating these ads with ordinary products, it reveals the way the luxury brands are nothing more than a façade, selling a hope for the image luxury brings, rather than the product itself.
